Digpro GIS

GIS

Spatial

The overall Digpro product suite design strategy has been to develop an integrated offering of applications and modules, built on the same platform for geographic data, covering the full lifecycle of network management. The result is a superior, web-based solution with comprehensive, embedded GIS functionality.

The base platform

The base platform includes a unique, purpose-built GIS engine platform, dpSpatial.

The GIS platform and tools manage all aspects of network documentation including geographic and schematic views, single-line diagrams, maps and overviews, topologies, asset data, and others.

A Digpro solution comprises a built-in asset register that integrates advanced GIS technology with Oracle or PostgreSQL databases for editing, storing, analyzing, and presenting geographical data.

Requirements of the utility industry

The GIS platform is designed to handle the significant up-time requirements of the utility industry.

Using a single, central database and advanced geo-spatial functionality, Digpro’s solution allows customers to avoid time-consuming, asynchronous data transfers between systems. This makes the system more efficient and significantly reduces the risk for data errors and network down time.

To meet the many challenges involved in building and managing complex networks, the solution makes use of model rules and automatically generated network schematics. Network information is presented in a user-friendly form that is accessible to casual map readers yet delivers rich detail for needed by advanced users.

GIS for Network Owners

A solution from Digpro provides a much higher level of flexibility compared to competing solutions, which are typically less comprehensive, more rigid, and built on a third-party GIS software.

Digpro’s solution was first developed for the electrical power industry but has subsequently been further developed to suit additional utility industries such as gas, telecom, heating & cooling, and water & waste water.

Every feature request is treated as a possible system enhancement. The non-proprietary nature of the system’s general architecture means that any enhancements made in response to a customer request are provided to all users during routine upgrades. This approach not only delivers ongoing improvements, but also results in a highly standardized application where difficult maintenance scenarios are avoided.

The software

The software makes the most complex contexts clear and allows users to gain a complete overview of network functionality and architecture which, in turn, provides improved control over all phases in the lifecycle of the distribution network.

Access to comprehensive and correct data allows more advanced analysis on how to optimize operations.

Moreover, the process significantly improves customer service as the customer service organization can locate errors and act fast to have local service personnel fix the error while at the same time providing correct and up-to-date information to customers.

Contrary to competing solutions using a third-party GIS-platform, Digpro offers a fully homogenous system, eliminating compatibility and licensing issues. All data is stored in one common database, simplifying data integrity, security, and interoperability. The straightforward user interface can be adapted to each user’s work tasks. This decreases the need for training and reduces errors when operating the system.

Digpro is in full control of all software components and can provide customers with comprehensive support and helpdesk services throughout the whole support chain, with no licensing issues.
