Product Summary
DP/Spatial is a set of standard components to enable fast and simple development of customised web-based GIS solutions, working directly with data stored in Oracle Spatial.
The components facilitate both advanced GIS analysis, and extensive editing, of data stored in the standardised Oracle spatial format. No expensive middle-ware is required.

Platform Independent
All components in DP/Spatial are developed in Java. This gives a productive and modern platform for developing web-based applications where both client and server parts can run on any operating system, such as Windows 98/ME/XP/NT/2000, Solaris, Linux and others.

Analysis
DP/Spatial is allowing users with thin clients to utilise the full power of Oracle Spatial. A few examples of supported analysis functions are:
♣   Buffer zones
♣   Thematic maps
♣   Visualisation in 3D
♣   Miscellaneous reports which can be exported to the programs in the Office suit.

Projects and installations
Applications developed with DP/Spatial are today used by:
♣   ABB; for developing the next generation of ABB´s network information system, facilplus™. The next generation will be web-based and is under development in a joint venture between ABB and Digpro.
♣   Stockholm Fire Department; a web-based system named Helios has been developed and is today used for risk analysis. In the application internal databases of the Fire Department are used together with maps from City of Stockholm.
♣   City of Stockholm; for searching addresses on the city´s web site www.stockholm.se

Advantages
Storing and processing geographic information with Oracle Spatial and thin web clients gives several advantages:
♣   Open and standardised storage of data, non proprietary and not dependent of any particular GIS vendor
♣   Easy installation, even on a very large number of clients
♣   Low cost as no traditional GIS platform is required
♣   Easy to spread information within the organisation
♣   Easy to make information available for consultants and sub-contractors
