VB Elnät upgraded its network information system (NIS) to ABB’s new, unique and web based Facilplus Spatial. Facilplus Spatial is developed in cooperation with Digpro AB and built upon their DP/Spatial platform. The platform utilizes Oracle Spatial and web technologies for optimum performance and flexibility.
NIS is an IT system that provides clients the tools they need for effective management of network operations, maintanence, fault-localization, diagnostics and development projections.
One of the advantages of Facilplus Spatial is that everyone in the company can benefit from using the system by accessing through a basic web browser. The system even allows for the possibility of communicating with field personnel through mobile terminals.
VB Elnät’s technological investment is validation that powerful, flexible web based database solutions are fundamental to good business infrastructure.
ABB is Sweden’s leader in the NIS sector with approximately 60 Facilplus installations most of which are expected to upgrade within the coming years.
