Increased co-operation between Digpro and ABB in the field of network information systems directed at the energy market

For the past 8 years, Digpro and ABB have collaborated closely on product development and network information systems, directed at the energy market. ABB is responsible for the sales and marketing of Facilplus Spatial on the international and Swedish market.  Digpro has had the main responsibility for the development and maintenance of the products. The delivery project and support have been carried out by both partners. The department at ABB, responsible for the delivery and support of Facilplus products, has shared the premises with Digpro for the past 4 years.

Lately, there has been a substantial increase in enquiries and demand for our services and products. To respond to this increase, we are currently taking a joint step towards a further streamlining and co-ordination of our resources. Digpro and ABB have consequently signed a new agreement that involves an increased co-operation in this field.

This change entails the creating of a new organisation, in which we are co-ordinating resources in the areas of development, delivery and support. This will give us increased possibilities for meeting the rise in demand and, in the end, it will consequently provide our customers with even better services.

This new organisation means that the staff and other resources for the development, delivery, support and selling of Facilplus Spatial at ABB Power Technologies AB are being transferred to Digpro. Since the technical expertise for production is now being gathered under one organisation, a larger basis is being achieved for further development, delivery and support of our products.

For Digpro, it involves taking over the responsibility for the Swedish customers on the energy side of things, while ABB is working with customers using Facilplus Spatial as a complement to the ABB SCADA system (remote control system). The contract gives Digpro a significant strengthening, with an increase in expertise focused on operations in the field of energy. Consequently, Digpro will have direct contact with a large and important customer group. Following the restructuring, approx. 55 people at Digpro will be working with development, delivery, support and sales.

ABB will focus on sales and marketing, directed at the international market. In future, Digpro and ABB will share joint ownership of Facilplus Spatial/E. Facilplus Spatial will be marketed and sold as a complement to the ABB SCADA system or as a separate entity. ABB will henceforth be a very important partner and marketing channel for Digpro.

Mr. Bo Lundgren, CEO of Digpro, stated, “These changes are going to provide us with improved opportunities for responding to an increase in demand, together with better conditions for a continuing expansion internationally through ABB.”

Mr. Knut Faber of ABB Power Technologies commented, “Through this change, we are ensuring access to a leading technical geographic information system, which has proved itself to be an all the more important complement to our SCADA system.”
